Walking to Rome to Help Raise Money for St Wilfrid’s Centre
Mike Reynolds, parishioner at St William of York, Sheffield, is walking the pilgrimage route to Rome, the Via Francigena, in September. This is the pilgrimage that featured on BBC 1 – Pilgrimage: The Road to Rome, earlier this year. With a companion, he is walking from Lucca to Siena, and then from Bolsena to Rome. The distance will be a little under 250 kilometres.
Mike is leaving Sheffield on Thursday, 12 September, and is planning to reach Rome on Monday, 30 September. There will be 12 days of walking, and rest days in San Gimignano and Siena.
Mike is doing this to help raise money for St Wilfrid’s Centre, where his wife Marian is a regular volunteer.
Says Mike, “I am doing this as I really believe in the good work that the Centre does and want to be able to help support it by doing this Pilgrimage.”
