St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Dinnington, were visited by two teachers from Zambia, Mr Patrick Kitakwa and Mrs Phyllis Mukosai, (pictured with members of St Joseph’s staff), who spent a week with the school, working in classrooms and sharing their experiences and knowledge with the children.
During the week, Patrick and Phyllis joined Breakfast Club, met an Anglo-Saxon visitor in Class 4, and saw a school full of superheroes during Children in Need day. Out of school hours, they met teachers from other schools, and had the chance to see a little of South Yorkshire.
Each class at St Joseph’s studied an aspect of Zambia, and presented their work at a special assembly on Friday, 14 November, where they said “Good Bye” to Mr Kitakwa and Mrs Mukosai. The children sang the Zambian National Anthem and “God Save The Queen”.
Pictures of their work can be seen on the school website: www.stjosephs-dinnington.co.uk.
In June 2015, two of the staff from St Joseph’s, Mrs Schofield and Miss Powell, will visit Zambia and meet the children at St Joseph’s in Kalulushi.
