This year of 2017 marks the Centenary of Our Lady’s appearances at Fatima.

In recognition of this milestone, the World Apostolate of Fatima in England and Wales organised a programme of visits to Cathedrals throughout England and Wales, by the National Pilgrim Virgin Statue of Our Lady of Fatima and the relics of Blessed Jacinta and Francisco, two of the children Our Lady appeared to.

In August the Diocesan Cathedral of St Marie’s took part in this significant celebration.

The statue was blessed and crowned by Bishop Ralph in a special ceremony before the celebration of Mass.

Our photograph shows Benedicta Green, a member of the Cathedral’s flower team, decorating the base of the statue prior to it being processed into a packed church.
