Do you know of any 20th century work of art in your church? If you do, please would you let me know. I am compiling a list for the diocese.
Of especial interest are works by named artists. I know about such major works as the Reyntiens window in St Marie’s; the set of Brangwyn lithographs of the Stations at Stainforth and the Sykes’ Christ on the Cross at Worksop, plus another 40-odd or so artists and their work; but I suspect there are more.
I also need dates and information for several of those I already know about, such as the figure of St Joseph at Worksop and the Stations at Harworth, all, it would seem, carved in coal. So please provide dates and medium, where you can, as well as artists’ names and location.
Information can be emailed to email@example.com or sent to Hallam Pastoral Centre, St Charles Street, Sheffield, S9 3WU, for the attention of Dr Paul Walker, Diocesan Historic Churches Committee.
