This month we are looking at the events in Holy Week starting with Palm Sunday or Passion Sunday.

Jesus Enters Jerusalem

Jesus entered Jerusalem so that he and his friends could celebrate the feast of the Passover.  Most people were excited to see Jesus and celebrated by waving palms and calling his name.

Listen to the Gospel on Palm Sunday and then draw your own picture in the space above.

Try to use some words that you hear in the Gospel in your picture.  The Gospel for Palm Sunday is Luke 19: 28-40.

We also hear about the Last Supper and Jesus washing the feet of his friends.  We also hear about Jesus in the Garden of Gethsemane, when he prayed to his Father.  He was then arrested by the Temple guards and taken to the High Priests for questioning, before being given over to the Romans to crucify on Good Friday.

Finally, we hear on Easter Sunday, that Jesus has risen from the dead.  Alleluia!

Easter Prayer (From Cafod website)

Risen Christ, we praise you and give you thanks for your glory

as we celebrate your resurrection today.

Fill our hearts with your love,

so that we too may renew

the face of the earth.

Amen

There are many more Easter prayers featured on the CAFOD website (www.cafod.org.uk).

Jesus is Risen!  Alleluia!

In the space opposite, draw your own picture of the tomb and the people who visited it, Mary Magdalene and Peter.  They arrived very early in the morning on the day that Jesus rose from the dead.

  Jesus is risen – Alleluia!

I wonder … … Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday

I wonder which day you like the best?

I wonder if we can miss any of the days and still have all we need to understand Holy Week?

I wonder on which day you feel closest to Jesus?
