On the morning of Friday, 6 February, approximately 500 excited primary pupils from all fifteen Catholic primary schools in Sheffield arrived at Notre Dame High School for the annual ‘Big Sing Liturgy Thing – a feast of music, song, prayer, dance and liturgy’ led by popular Christian worship band, CJM.
A number of Y7 pupils from both Notre Dame High School and All Saints Catholic High School volunteered to help host the event after taking part in the Big Sing experience last year as Y6s, and being eager to experience it again.
The day was split into two halves; in the morning the fantastic team of musicians from CJM prepared the pupils for the liturgy, which took place in the afternoon. A group of pupils were also taken to learn a liturgical dance which became part of the afternoon liturgy.
During lunchtime a group of Notre Dame Students from Year 9 volunteered to run activities on the yard for up to 250 pupils at a time – no mean feat! The primary pupils really enjoyed the activities though, and the sunshine and fresh air helped them to run off some of the excitement of the morning!
Thanks to all the staff at Notre Dame who made the day possible and the CJM team for leading a wonderful, memorable day.
