On this feast day we celebrate our belief that Mary the Mother of Christ, was taken body and soul – which means both physically and spiritually – into heaven to live with her son, Jesus Christ, for ever.

We have to wait until the end of time for this but Mary was able to go straight to heaven, body and soul, because she had been “conceived without sin.” It was as if Mary had been baptised even before Christ had given us baptism so that she was ready to be his mother.

Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary on 15 August each year.

I wonder …

if there is a statue of Mary you like the most?
