On this feast day, we celebrate that Mary the Mother of Christ was taken body and soul – which means both physically and spiritually – into heaven to live with her son, Jesus Christ, for ever.  Mary’s body was taken straight to heaven when she died.

Catholics celebrate the Feast of the Assumption of Mary on 15 August each year.  It is a holyday of obligation, which means that we should try to go to Mass on that day.

I wonder …

I wonder if there is a statue of Mary you like the most?

I wonder what the child Jesus and his mother, Mary, enjoyed doing most together?

Hail Mary, full of grace,

the Lord is with you.

Blessed are you among women

and blessed is the fruit

of your womb, Jesus.

Holy Mary, Mother of God,

pray for us sinners now,

and at the hour of our death.

Amen
