The SVP is an organisation that enables its members to put their faith into action. Underpinned by the spirituality promoted by St Vincent and embraced by its founder Frederick Ozanam, the SVP recognises that we see Christ in all we meet and that we should love and respect one another, offering support to those in need.

The problem is that while the SVP is flourishing in some dioceses this is not the case with Hallam.  To address this issue the diocese has appointed Lance Philpott as Membership Development Officer for Hallam to work to recruit new conferences across the parishes.  Lance will initially be focusing on those areas in the diocese where there is little or no SVP presence when, following an appeal at Mass for volunteers, he will offer support, guidance and training as new conferences.

In order to recruit new members Lance is looking for those individuals who would like to put their faith into action to offer practical help and support to those in need in their community.  Lance is planning to work his way round the parishes, appealing to congregations to start up a conference in their community.  He is looking forward to meeting people at the churches he visits and hopes that the SVP will once again grow into a thriving force in the parishes across Hallam.

If you are interested in finding out more about the SVP or would like to talk to Lance about setting up an SVP conference in your parish please contact him on Lancep@svp.org.uk.
