The Women’s Group recently spent a fantastic morning at the Alpaca Farm at Ringinglow. They were made very welcome by the staff who did all they could to ensure St Wilfrid’s clients enjoyed their visit.
Some of the alpacas had been brought up to the paddock near the cafe and the women were invited in to feed them. The animals were quite tame and happy to be stroked and the staff even brought out a skunk which was a surprising favourite of the group.
Although it was cold, the sun shone and the women had a brilliant time. The visit to the Alpaca Farm brought out the best in the women, many of whom expressed their delight with the following quotes:
“They made us feel very welcome”.
“It was fantastic. It’s the first time I’ve fed an animal from my hand.”
“It was brilliant – I want a meerkat and a skunk.”
“It was different – I wasn’t scared and I would have been normally. I wouldn’t usually feed
animals as I’m paranoid about germs.”
After hearing all about the Women’s Group’s experiences, the Men’s Group now want to visit the alpacas!
