High Sheriff’s Award
St Wilfrid’s Centre was privileged to receive a High Sheriff’s Award for valuable and devoted service to the community from Lady Ruby Sykes earlier in April.
As one of her final acts as the High Sheriff of South Yorkshire, Lady Ruby chose to present the Award to St Wilfrid’s as she was so impressed with the work they do. As Centre Director, Kevin Bradley was away, the Award was presented to Charles Gillespie of St Wilfrid’s Management Committee. He is pictured with Lady Ruby Sykes.

People came from all walks of life from across the city, including politicians and business leaders, to join in the celebration. The event, which included an English buffet, singing and dancing with Sheffield City Morris Dancers, was a great success.
Visiting sporting celebrities included the legendary Tony Currie and star player, Harry Maguire from Sheffield United, as well as snooker veteran, Ken Doherty, fresh from the World Championship, who presided at the raffle draw.
