St Pius Learning Community started their new term with an Ethos Inset Day for St Pius X, Our Lady and St Joseph’s, St Joseph’s and St Alban’s. The day started with a prayer and a team building exercise and was followed by a series of workshops led by various groups who are currently involved in supporting and assisting the schools on a regular basis.
CAFOD, Savio House Salesian Centre, Community Cohesion Support at Rotherham Borough Council and Mgr Desmond Sexton all attended the Ethos day which took place at the secondary school. This reinforced and strengthened bonds with the schools, reminding all who attended of the importance of promoting our Catholic faith not only in our schools, but in our society today.
The workshops were followed by an opportunity to discuss issues further as Departments. During the day staff were reminded that everyone should contribute to the Catholic life and work of the school and, in turn, pass on to students the realisation that they have responsibilities as members of a community.
The day also reaffirmed the importance of having a positive Catholic ethos and climate of respect and trust within our schools and across the whole of our learning community. The day concluded with Mass with Bishop Ralph Heskett and Fr Evangelist Ohaejesi.
