Children were invited to write poems and raps in a National Premier League Writing Competition for the region, and children from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Retford came in first place.

The winning poem is ‘Never Give Up’ by Kristian Macioszek, Edward Ducksbury and Oliver Stocks from Y5.

During a celebration assembly each child received a signed Doncaster Rovers football and tickets to the Doncaster versus Bristol game in January.  Their poem was published in the programme at the game.

The school community is very proud of the children’s achievements.  It is great to see the children engaged in writing for a real purpose.

  Well done boys!
