St Ann’s, Deepcar had a Pentecost Party Celebration to relaunch the parish following the rescheduling of Masses within the cluster of St Mary’s, Penistone, St Ann’s, Deepcar, Kirk Edge Convent, St Thomas More, Grenoside and St Mary’s, High Green.

St Ann’s had previously had two Sunday Masses, one at 9.15am and one at 6.30pm.  The parish now only has the one at 6.30pm.  Whilst many have embraced the change and sought out the benefits; for some it has been more difficult.  A group within the parish have been working through the Divine Renovation programme with Fr Joseph and it was during one of these sessions that the relaunch/Pentecost Party was agreed.

The idea was to celebrate the Pentecost theme, the birthday of the Church, and remind parishioners of all the good things that we did and can still do if we all work together.

The church was decorated with bunting and balloons, Bishop Ralph concelebrated with Fr Joseph.  The children’s liturgy was relaunched.  The children, who had created a visual display and decorated their handbands with tongues of fire, returned to church and processed in during the offertory.  After Mass everyone enjoyed a party in the church hall.  Parishioners told of a joyful atmosphere and a sense of a great energy around the whole occasion.
