It’s very rare that St Wilfrid’s likens its staff to an animal but Helen Lowry, Centre Office Manager, took to the streets of Sheffield on 22 September for the Sheffield 10K 2019. This was the day after she had organised and completed walking the 21km Bishop’s Walk AND she did this run with a tortoise shell strapped to her back.
Says Helen, “I knew that I wasn’t going to break any records, so just getting around the course was enough for me. Completing 31km in less than 24 hours was a tough challenge, so I thought that at least I’d put a smile on people’s faces being a bright yellow tortoise. I’m relieved to report that I didn’t quite come last. It was knowing that I was raising money for such a brilliant cause that kept me going to the finish line.”
Well done Helen from everyone here at St Wilfrid’s Centre, no hares on you!
