We have a number of school volunteers in the Hallam Diocese who, after training and with support, go into local schools to raise awareness of various situations throughout the world and inspire children and young people to make a difference.  If you join our team we will give you training, take you through the safeguarding disclosures (costing you nothing) and give you support as you take your first steps into transforming the outlooks of children and young people in your area.

The first visits are normally with other volunteers so you can learn from those with experience.  Often visits can happen in pairs if there are other volunteers in your area.  It varies from month to month, but the average commitment is around one day per month in schools, along with on-going support and training during the year.

Visits can mean simply picking up a cheque and saying thank you, presenting an assembly or a class-room session, or being involved in retreat days or off timetable days.  If you have a career of experience with children or young people you are welcome.  If you have no experience but a desire to learn and grow then you are just as welcome.

We are particularly in need of school volunteers in the Barnsley, Chesterfield, Doncaster and Rotherham areas of the Diocese.  If you are reading this and aren’t interested yourself, please take a moment to think if any of your friends or family might be interested and highlight this article to them.

If you are interested then do contact our office on Hallam@cafod.org.uk or phone Anne or Angela 0114 2687817 and we would be delighted to send you more information.

Thank you very much, I hope you will consider a great opportunity to be involved with those who were so important to Jesus – the children!
