Saint Pius X Catholic High School has linked up with a school in Poland – Zespol Katolickich Szkol in Skawinie near Krakow, to develop cultural education across the curriculum.
Ten different subjects areas are investigating Polish geography, history, lifestyle, language and culture. In RE students have studied the Polish Martyr; Jerzy Popieluszko; Science students are studying the work of Madam Curie, whilst some of the school’s own Polish speaking students have been giving lessons on their language to their peers. This term the Modern Foreign Languages are planning Skype link ups with Polish students in the school’s partner school near Krakow.
In June Mass was celebrated in Polish by Polish Chaplain, Fr Jerzy Prucual, pictured with members of the school community.
After Mass a buffet was served with a range of traditional delicious Polish dishes.
