Mrs Sheilagh Preston died peacefully on 2 April, 2019, aged 81 years.  She was the beloved wife of Jack for 59 years and the loving mother of Simon, Richard and Matthew, and Grandma of Simon, Jack, Charlie and Jasper.

  Her requiem Mass took place on Wednesday, 24 April at the Church of the Mother of God in Sheffield.

  Holy Mass was celebrated by Monsignor William Kilgannon, Parish Priest of Mother of God Church, together with Bishop Ralph and Rt Rev John Rawsthorne, Emeritus Bishop of Hallam.  Also concelebrating were Fr Christopher Posluszny of the Cathedral Church of St Marie, Fr Geoffrey Bottoms now retired from Lancaster, where Sheilagh lived some years ago.  The homily was given by the Rt Rev Terence Brain, Emeritus Bishop of Salford, who was a former chaplain to the Union of Catholic Mothers for several years.

  Sheilagh will be sadly missed by all her family, friends and members of the Union of Catholic Mothers.  She was an active member in her Parish and was a longstanding member of the UCM, having held Office at Diocesan and National levels, as well as having travelled to many countries with The World Union of Catholic Women’s Organisation.

  Sheilagh served on the Diocesan Finance Board and was a Diocesan Trustee.  She was also a member of the Diocesan Safeguarding Commission.

  May God reward her for all her hard work.  May she rest in peace.
