Holy Trinity pupils in Barnsley were joined by a very special guest to commemorate this year’s Armistice Day on Friday, 11 November. Her Majesty’s Lord Lieutenant for South Yorkshire, Andrew Coombe attended the special service, where he gave an address and laid a wreath at the memorial in the school’s peace garden.

Head teacher, Anna Dickson said, “Our students presented a wonderful service of remembrance, for which we were proud to welcome the Lord Lieutenant. As the Queen’s personal representative in the county, it was a huge honour to have him attend our service of commemoration.”

Secondary students read excerpts from letters sent by soldiers to their families before they were deployed in the WWI battlefields. The Primary Choir performed ‘You Lift Me Up’, which was very well received by the dignitaries and guests.
