On Saturday, 7 November 2015, family and friends gathered at St Marie’s Cathedral, Sheffield, to witness and participate in Joe McNally’s investiture as a Knight Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of St Gregory the Great.

The ceremony, in a full Cathedral, was an integral part of Holy Mass. Before the citation was read and the insignia affixed, Bishop Ralph spoke of Joe’s work for the Church at local, national and international level.  The papal knighthood, he said, was due recognition of Joe’s lifetime of service to others in the British Isles, the Holy Land, and beyond.

Bishop John Arnold (Salford), Monsignor Canon David Hogan (Middlesbrough), Monsignor David Kirkwood (Hallam), Canon James Cronin (Missio), Fr Michael Beattie SJ, Fr Gus O’Reilly (Doncaster) and Fr Joseph Narikuzhi (Sheffield) con-celebrated. Fr Adrian Tomlinson was Master of Ceremonies.
