Do you ever think about the food you eat, and where it comes from? Discuss with your family about all the people who may have been involved in getting the food you eat in front of you and where it comes from.

How good are you at remembering to say ‘Thank you’ for what you have eaten?  Around about this time each year, we give thanks for the harvest that we have received.  None of this would be possible without the generosity of God, and so it is important to remember to stop and say thank you for the food he provides for us, and to give thanks for all the people who prepare it and bring it to our table.

Our activities this month are based on parables – which are stories – that Jesus told.  A description of a parable is that it is an earthly story with a heavenly meaning.

Many of these parables that Jesus told involved food, and so fit in well with our Harvest theme.  Jesus used his parables to help people understand more about God.  They revealed the truth to those who wanted to hear God’s message, but to those who didn’t, the message was hidden.
