Children from St Mary’s Catholic Primary School in High Green, Sheffield organised a collection of food for their local food bank.
The group of children, part of Mini Vinnies (the primary school branch of St Vincent de Paul) challenged the rest of their school to ‘Make the Rainbow.’ The school community rose to the challenge and the group of children carried all the contributions to the St Saviour’s Community Project where it was received with thanks. The food collected will be used to create hampers for families over the next couple of months.
President of Mini Vinnies, Jessica, a Y6 pupil at St Mary’s, said that the group felt that this project was an important one to support as we are taught to share what we have with others in need. The group thanked God for the blessings of harvest and prayed for the people who would receive the food.
