On Saturday, 13 September thirteen members of Hallam Faith and Light made the journey to Walsingham by mini-bus. Walsingham is where Faith and Light was born in England and the first National Celebration took place there in 1976. To mark the Silver Jubilee of Faith and Light International a gathering of many communities from all around England took place in 1996 and this tradition of gathering to celebrate with Our Lady has continued over the years.
Everyone had a good journey down to Norfolk, shared refreshments with other Faith and Light members in the Parish Hall then walked in procession from the village to Mass concelebrated by Fr Tom and Fr Phillip. Fr Tom Goonan had been chaplain to the group for over 15 years before his move from Sheffield to Walsingham last year. A picnic was shared outside in the warm afternoon sunshine before returning home, nourished by the visit.
Members of the group are pictured awaiting the start of the procession along the Holy Mile outside the Church of the Annunciation, with their Faith and Light banner.
