Hallam Charity Night held in the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Chesterfield Road, Sheffield on 29 September, 2018, was again a splendid event enjoyed by all who attended.

  Over £5000 was raised on the night for the benefit of the St Vincent De Paul Furniture Store – to help the homeless into homes in Sheffield; the Makeni Trust – to provide blood screening kits for a hospital in Sierra Leone; Bethlehem Care and Hospice Trust – to provide permanent Day Care facilities for the elderly poor and hospice provision in Bethlehem; the Medaille Trust – to support the victims of human trafficking.

  The Prize Draw £1000 first prize was won by Mr Bryan McGurk of Morpeth, Northumbria.  The second prize, a holiday for a week in a chalet in Austria was won by Mrs Elizabeth Maltby of Sheffield.  The third prize of £250 was won by Ms Claire Clay of St Mary’s Catholic High School, Chesterfield.

  This year’s Hallam Charity Night Dinner and Dance is at the Double Tree by Hilton Hotel, Chesterfield Road. Sheffield on Saturday, 5 October.  Again we hope to be able to help charities at home and abroad.  Over the past ten years the Diocesan Charity Night has donated over £65,000 to charities in the Diocese and elsewhere.

  The Organising Committee invite applications from charities who would wish to benefit from the proceeds of the evening.  The application letter, addressed to the below named, should set out details of the applicant and the purpose for which the donation is being sought together with how it is intended the money will be spent.

  Applications/donations to: Mrs Elizabeth Mason, Honorary Secretary, c/o The Presbytery, 34 Meadowhead, Sheffield, S8 7UD.  The closing date for applications is 10 June.

  The organising Committee is happy to receive donations and prizes in support of the event.
