The Hallam Ascent Group was formed in the Summer of 2003 and, although based at St Francis of Assisi Parish, Sandygate, Sheffield, is open to all in and around the Hallam Diocese.
The group is aimed at those over fifty, retired or perhaps preparing to retire. Both men and women are welcome. The three strands of the group’s focus are the development of spirituality, mission and friendship.
Hallam Ascent meets once a month at St Francis of Assisi Church Hall, usually on the first Wednesday of the month at 1.45-3.45pm. The monthly meetings begin in prayer, followed by discussion and end with tea.
There is a varied and interesting programme of events. Social gatherings, usually mid-month on a Wednesday or Thursday, are planned nearer the time of the event, including picnics, walks, visits, pub lunches and games afternoons. The group have an Annual Lunch, usually in November.
