The End of Year Mass at Holy Rood School is always a special occasion when the community says not just farewell to Y6, but also to anyone else who may be leaving. This included Derek Skitt who officially retired from the school’s governing body after thirty two years of dedicated service. Derek was also Chair of Governors for twenty five of those years and under his guidance and leadership the school has been transformed beyond all recognition. Speeches and presentations were made after Mass and among the gifts Derek received were a photo album full of pictures from his tenure, a beautiful illumination and blessing hand drawn by the sisters at Kirkedge, a donation to Derek’s favourite charity that supports street children in Columbia and a Japanese Maple.
