Counting our Blessings is a new scripture-based resource, produced by the Department for Christian Responsibility and Citizenship at the Bishops’ Conference of England and Wales, to support parish and school communities as they accompany families on their faith journey.
In a guided small-group process, each session explores a real question about life in everyday language, eg ‘What helps you to ‘hang on in there’ when the going gets tough?’ And then to hear the voice of God through scripture.
Sessions can be used for different times of the Church year or as support for sacramental preparation.
A group at Mother of God Parish, Sheffield explored the question about forgiveness as part of their preparation for Advent. Parishioners commented, “It was easy to use and prompted thoughts and reflections about the blessing of forgiveness in our lives.”
