December was a busy month for everyone at the Centre – clients, staff and volunteers alike with a carol concert, shows, a disco and carol sing-a-longs.
The Festive Carol Concert held in St Marie’s Cathedral, which raised £1,750, was a delightful evening of carols and choral music from BeVox Community Choir and showcased the inaugural performance by St Wilfrid’s Centre singers, a choir made up of staff and clients, who received a standing ovation for their performance. It was a wonderful evening, a great start to the Christmas festivities.
Following on the next day was the annual Client Christmas party. The party, attended by over 100 people, included special guests Tony Currie, players from Sheffield United, Paul Bloomfield and the Deputy Lord Mayor. But this year, top of the guest list for our clients, were Coronation Street actors Joe Dittine and Sally Carman, (aka Tim and Abi), who added extra glitz and glam!
Thank you to everyone who kindly supported the Centre over the Christmas period in so many ways, from donations of food, crackers and drinks to financial contributions, which helped make Christmas a special time for so many of our clients, for whom celebrating at the Centre was their only Christmas celebration.
