St Wilfrid’s Centre for the homeless and vulnerable were delighted recently to receive confirmation from the newly installed Bishop of Hallam, the Rt Rev Ralph Heskett that he will be joining us on the Bishop’s Walk this year. However, this does not mean the end of Bishop John’s participation in the event as he has agreed to come out of retirement to take part.
The sixteenth walk will take place this year on Friday, 5 September, taking in the beautiful scenery of the Ladybower, Derwent and Howden Dams. The 15 mile annual event, which is raising money for St Wilfrid’s Residential fund, will be attended this year by priests, headteachers, business partners, clients, volunteers and staff of the Centre. Director of St Wilfrid’s, Kevin Bradley recently said, “The Bishop’s Walk is very important to us and is a great place for people from across the Diocese to mix informally. The money raised provides a lifeline for many, so please be generous in your support.”
Kevin further urges people to sign up to sponsor at churches across the Diocese and not to forget to fill in the gift aid form which is also very important. Remember just by ticking the box and putting your postcode, a further 25% of your donation will be added at no further inconvenience to you.
