A class of children from each of the twelve members of the Catholic Family of Schools in Doncaster gathered for a beautiful, all day liturgical celebration in the Church of St Peter In Chains.
Headteacher, Mr Nick Collins, said, “The ‘Big Sing Liturgy Thing’ was brilliantly led by Jo Boyce of CJM and the professional musicians behind her and the liturgical dance team were superb.
“The day of praise was a fantastic success. The children absolutely loved it. It was incredible to see the church full of such enthusiastic children from the moment they gathered in the church to well after the liturgy finished and, as it was such a lovely, sunny day, the children had the opportunity for a picnic lunch in the picturesque grounds.
“The ‘Big Sing Liturgy Thing’ captured the attention of all 360 children and accompanying adults. The theme of ‘Our Father’ was very appropriate and woven into the day extremely professionally. The whole day built up to the final liturgy which was performed with great respect and real energy.
“The melodies, lyrics and actions to the hymns engaged the children fully and their enthusiasm was infectious beyond belief with many children arriving back at school singing with gusto.
“As a day organised to support the transition from the Doncaster Catholic Primaries to the McAuley Catholic High School, it provided phenomenal cohesion and gave much food for thought.”
