On the feast of Our Lady of Lourdes, Hugh Davey, a former altar boy at St Alban’s, Denaby Main, was presented with the Bene Merenti for seventy years’ service to the Catholic Church.
Hugh is now seventy eight and has lived in Scarborough all his married life. However, he has many fond memories of his time in our Diocese. He remembers serving Mass with Bill Hurley.
His friend of a lifetime, Kevin Kerrigan, and his wife, Eileen Kerrigan, joined Hugh for the celebration of the presentation of his Bene Merenti.
Hugh is pictured with his wife, Josie, Fr Gubbins, family and friends.
