As the end of the Catenian year drew near Barnsley 205 supported and enjoyed three events.
Firstly, President Peter Brannan and wife, Lesley, led the celebrations during the Circle Dinner Dance at Shaw Lane.
Secondly the Circle hosted the final of the provincial Rex Kirk Quiz. This event, running through the year, planned, staffed and organised by the Circle through Andrew Hartley and his happy bunch, culminated in a win for Huddersfield Circle, beating Bradford and Grimsby in the final.
David Brinkley presented the Huddersfield captain, Paul Bareham, with the trophy. David is relinquishing the role of Provincial Director this year to be replaced by Tony Deighton.
Finally the provincial Public Speaking Competition was held at Holy Trinity School. There were competitors from all over Yorkshire. Alex Bruce from York was the winner. Pictured below with the contestants is Bob Krause, Chair of Governors at the school. This event, in its second year, goes from strength to strength.
