On Wednesday, 13 May, All Saints School was honoured and privileged to welcome His Excellency, the United States Ambassador to Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Matthew Barzun. He is pictured meeting one of the Y13 students during his visit to the school.
His visit was part of a programme where the Ambassador gets out and about in Britain in order to acquaint himself with the thoughts, views and questions of British society – and specifically schools and colleges – in relation to the USA and its domestic and foreign policy.
He addressed a group of students, Y7-Y13, and sought their opinions on many matters. A lively exchange of views and opinions took place and the Ambassador commented upon the excellent engagement, range of questions and knowledge displayed and the welcoming art-work of a Y7 class who had prepared posters to adorn the walls of the lecture theatre.
The Ambassador presented two of the students with his official ‘coins’. He was similarly presented with gifts, including Henderson’s Relish, a Sheffield-made Cranberry spoon and a Sheffield Wednesday pen!
Coffee was taken with the Headteacher, Clare Scott, and the visit was deemed a great success and a tremendous honour.
