We didn’t know it was as energetic as that!  Mike O’Callaghan reports on a Catenian celebration of St George.

On the eve of St George’s Day the brothers and ladies of Sheffield Hallamshire 218 circle were entertained by the Lord Conyer’s Morris Men, who soon dispelled the myth that Morris dancing is for the less energetic.  The dancers also told us the history behind the dancing tradition and entertained us with a variety of dances, including a sword dance which had us gazing in wonder as one of the company performed a somersault and emerged unscathed!

Replete after our two course supper, following our AGM and April meeting, we could only be thankful that we were not invited to dance with them!  Brother President Dominic Shirt has more than a passing knowledge of the tradition, but refrained from gyrating.  He maintained the tradition of the occasion by presenting each of the ladies with a souvenir rose.
