Bishop Ralph again invites you to join him on the Diocesan Pilgrimage to Lourdes, which will take place from Sunday, 2 July to Friday, 7 July 2017. The pilgrimage theme this year is “The Almighty has done great things for me”, when we reflect on the Magnificat Path of healing, forgiveness, and mission.
For the journey we plan to charter two aircraft from Doncaster Sheffield Airport, direct to Lourdes. The fare is £669 plus £28 insurance (£697 for those who don’t have their own insurance policy) which includes 5 nights’ Full Board (breakfast, lunch & dinner), accommodation in a good quality hotel, transfers between Lourdes airport and your hotel, Sanctuary Levy and City Tax, and pilgrimage prayer book and badge.
During the pilgrimage we come together each day as a Diocese for the celebration of Mass, and for liturgies such as the Service of Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Stations of the Cross , and a visit to the Baths. Pilgrims also have the opportunity to participate in the Blessed Sacrament Procession/Adoration and Torchlight Procession which take place each day in the Sanctuary. There are also times built into the programme for free time, as well as the opportunity for personal prayer at the Grotto.
Helpers are needed, particularly nurses, but also those who are simply willing to volunteer to help others. A current DBS check, undertaken by the Diocese, is required for all helpers. We also welcome applications from pilgrims, including those who need assistance during their time in Lourdes and will be supported by the large number of young helpers from High Schools around the Diocese, and other helpers.
Booking forms are available in parishes, or by contacting Rose Shay, 07724 650066 (Tuesday and Wednesday all day, other weekdays after 6.30pm) or from the Pilgrimage Director, Alex Prior, 01302 247910. The booking form can also be downloaded from the Diocesan website: http://www.hallam-diocese.com or can be requested by email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
